East End Lions are the champions of the first grand final hosted at the Southern Arena in Bo on Sunday evening.
The Freetown eastern-based club won the trophy following their narrow 1-0 win against Bo Rangers FC. Lions reached the finals after eliminating Wusum Stars and Bai Bureh Warrior earlier in the competition.
Ibrahim S. Conteh of East End Lions FC is the first player to score at the Southern Arena.
Conteh fired the Killers to victory after scoring late in the second half to help his side win 1-0 against the host, Bo Rangers FC to lift the trophy in the inter-regional gala held for the official opening of the six-thousand-capacity Stadium in Bo town.
Following their win, the chairman of East End Lions FC, Anthony Navo Jnr applauds the management of Southern Arena for putting up a great show in the official opening of the stadium which a total of six thousand people witnessed.
“Congratulations to our great East End Lions on winning the 2023 Southern Arena Inter-regional tournament. As Chairman of this great Club, I feel very proud and honored. Huge congratulations to the entire E.E Lions squad on the impressive 1-0 victory over host, Bo Rangers”.
The victory he said was a testament to their determination, hard work, and competitive spirit. “A champion is always a champion. This win is truly well-deserved and we are all so proud of our great team. Many thanks to our players, Management, dedicated fans, and supporters”, Navo adds.

The competition was part of the many events lined up for the official opening of the Southern Arena, a six-thousand-capacity stadium. It’s the first privately owned stadium in Sierra Leone.
