Lamin Bangura’s tragic death shocks football fans

The Sierra Leone football family is grieving the unexpected loss of Coach Lamin Bangura.

The Sierra Leone football community is deeply saddened by the news of the tragic accident involving the Port Authority football team and the loss of their head coach, Lamin Bangura.

The entire Port Authority football team was involved in a tragic road accident on its way to Kenema for a topflight match against Kahunla Rangers and unfortunately, the head coach of the club, Lamin Bangura, was pronounced dead at Rokupa Government Hospital in Freetown.

Sierra Leoneans worldwide have expressed their heartfelt condolences to the entire team and everyone affected by this devastating event.

They’ve offered their thoughts and prayers in this challenging time and stand in solidarity with the entire team and their families as they navigate this challenging situation.

“We understand the importance of the well-being and recovery of the players and executive members, and we hope for a swift healing and return to good health”, Alhaji Turay, a die-hard Port Authority fan stated.

Furthermore, “we want to express our deepest condolences to the family of coach Lamin Bangura, who was one of our national football heroes. This is a great loss for the football community in Sierra Leone, and we mourn the loss of such a dedicated and talented coach”, Turay said.

According to the FA President, Thomas Daddy Brima, Coach Lamin Bangura’s contribution to the growth and development of football in Sierra Leone was immeasurable. As a player and coach, he demonstrated unwavering commitment and dedication to the sport.

Additionally, he represented Sierra Leone as a player, coached the National U23 men’s team, and led Diamond Stars FC to win the 2012 Sierra Leone Premier League.

“I write with pain upon hearing the sudden death of one of our national football heroes, Coach Lamin Bangura, together with the bus driver and conductor”.

“He was a true legend who will be forever missed. We wish the injured players and technical staff a speedy recovery and hope that they will receive the necessary support and care during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Coach Lamin Bangura.

“I wish those players and technical staff seriously injured a speedy recovery. Rest In Peace, my brother and friend Coach Lamin Bangura. You will forever be missed, legend”, the FA boss concluded.
