Augustus Kargbo, a forward from Sierra Leone, played a crucial role in Cesena’s exciting journey to be promoted to the Italian Serie B.

Cesena emerged victorious against Pescara on Saturday, scoring 1-0, and became the first team to be promoted to Serie B.

Cesena dominated the Serie C Group B tournament, and their victory against Pescara ensured that they would play in the second-tier league of Italian football six years after their last relegation.

They outpaced Torres in the first part of the season and ultimately emerged as champions, winning 27 out of 34 matches played so far.

The team has shown constant improvement, moving from third place in 2022 to second in 2023 and finally clinching the first position this season.

Cesena has been the favourites since the start of the championship and was determined to forget their previous two years of unsuccessful playoffs.

Cristian Shpendi, the top scorer of the group and an extra weapon for Cesena, scored 20 goals, out of the 71 goals scored by the team. The Albanian striker is also the only one among Domenico Toscano’s players who has scored in double figures.

Cesena has not only achieved a huge number of successes but also has the best attack and defence in Serie C Group B. Since last summer, they have only suffered two defeats and six draws.
