Bo Rangers FC are champions of the 2022/23 Sierra Leone Premier League
Bo Rangers FC claimed their second successive Premier League title following their convincing 2-0 home win over Wusum Stars at the Southern Arena on Sunday.
The Elephants clinched the league title with 72 points with four more games to spare before the season wrapped up.
Bo Rangers went into the match with a focused mindset, expecting to win in other to be crowned champions of the 2022/23 league season with the hope of bringing jubilation to the doorsteps of their fans.
Wusum Stars delayed their optimism as the match drew level in the first half. The second half was a bit challenging, but Abu Komeh and Suffian Kalokoh netted a goal each to maintain their unbeaten run and win the title for the second time.
Midfielder, Saidu Bah Kamara expressed delight in winning the title once again, stating it was an incredible experience winning the league without losing a match.
“It was a special feeling knowing that you’ve won the league. We still have four matches to play, but we’ve done the job and it is time to celebrate our victory”.
“Each and every one of us in the squad contributed to achieving this goal. We are proud of ourselves. It is a win for our fans because they are very special to us”.
“As a player, it’s a great achievement for me especially when we win the league with so much dominance”, midfielder Saidu Bah Kamara told Mags Tribune Sports.
Bo Rangers set a remarkable history by going 30 games unbeaten with a lot more to offer in their remaining four matches which football fanatics have already predicted to be easy work over for the champions, suggesting that they are capable to win all.
Bo Rangers have equaled Diamond Stars’ record as the second team in the province to win the league back-to-back. They’ve become the fifth team after Mighty Blackpool in 1978, and 1979, Real Republicans in 1983 and 1984, and Diamond Stars in 2012 and 2013 to win the league two seasons consecutively.
While East End Lions still remain the only team to have won the league in three successive seasons, 1992, 1993, and 1994.
