Bo Rangers FC has confirmed that they've appointed former Leone Stars boss, John Edward Keister as the new head coach of the club.

Bo Rangers FC is thrilled to unveil John Edward Keister as the club’s new head coach ahead of the forthcoming 2023/24 Premier League season scheduled to commence on Friday 4th November 2023.

The Elephants confirmed the official appointment of the former Leone Stars boss on Wednesday, stating, his job will commence on the 1st of November 2023.

“With an impressive track record and a wealth of experience in the football industry, Coach Keister brings a dynamic approach and a new spirit to accelerate the growth of the club”, they posted on the Ranger’s Facebook page.

Adding: “His tenure will commence on the 1st of November 2023, and the entire club is eager to witness the positive impact he will undoubtedly make in leading the team to new heights of success”.

Keister began his coaching career as a player-assistance manager while playing for Margate, but left the club in 20011 to join FC Johansen in Freetown as a full-time head coach.

He had a four-year stint as the head coach of FC Johansen where he started his senior coaching career. He left Johansen in 2017 when he was appointed as the head coach of the Sierra Leone national team, Leone Stars.

In 2019, Keister was appointed as the head coach of East End Lions FC. He went ahead to win the one-round Sierra Leone Premier League unbeaten, setting a new record for the club.

Keister was reappointed as Leone Stars’ head coach in August 2020, leading the team to the 2021 African Cup of Nations hosted in Cameroon.

It was a breakthrough campaign for Keister and his Leone Stars squad who returned to the AFCON after missing out on qualifying for the continent’s biggest football showpiece for 25 years.

Considering his work rate, the chairman of the southern region-based club, Babadi Kamara, and his management felt he was the perfect candidate for the Rangers role.

Reacting to his appointment, fans of the club, welcomed him with open hands, applauding the decision of the club’s management to appoint him as their new coach.

“Ultimately, Keister is a good coach. He had a good spell with FC Johansen and East End Lions. Of course, he won the league with Lions unbeaten and he has a wealth of experience in coaching. So we are excited to have him as our new coach”, an ardent fan of the club, Mohamed Lamin Ansumana told Mags Tribune Sports.

Keister who was born in England in 1970, was a former professional player for many clubs in England and also a Sierra Leone national team, Leone Stars during his career.

He started his career with Tigers in 1992, a Sierra Leonean club, before moving to England in 1993. Since then, he has a spell at Walsall, Chester City, Shrewsbury Town, Stevenage, Borough, Margate and Dover Athletic.

Keister captained Dover Athletic before returning to Margate where he ended his playing career as a player-assistant manager in 2011.
