Wusum Stars FC secured a massive 5-1 home win over Freetown City Football Club at the Wusum field playing ground in Makeni on Monday afternoon.

A brace from Saymah Kamara and Abdul Bangura plus a goal from Alhassan Conteh were enough to seal Wusum Star’s fifth win in the league, keeping their hopes alive to fight for a space to stay in the country’s top-tier football.

Wusum Stars controls the match with an excellent work rate that boosts their performance from start to finish overcoming the visitors with a comfortable win against Freetown City FC.

Freetown City FC was formidable in the early minutes of the match as Abel Akwgbo broke the deadlock 13’ minutes into the action to put the visiting side ahead. But their lead was shortly canceled after Abdul Bangura levels the score for the Northern Rock in the 20minute.

The goalkeepers for either side were busy in the renaming minutes of the first half, making some vital saves to keep their teams in the match, but both teams head into the dressing room with the scores level at half-time.

Following the break, Wusum Stars came in as a different team that was hungry for goals with so much zest and composure in their midfield and attacking area. They kept the pressure on Freetown City FC’s gigantic defenders until they started getting goals from all angles, and it was difficult for the visitors to settle in the second half.

Wusum Stars has been struggling in the league since the start of the campaign with just five wins, three draws, and thirteen defeats in twenty-one matches.

They’ve been peddling the rock bottom of the table with little hope of surviving the risk of relegating to division one. They will need to put in extra effort if they are to revive from the relegation zone and fight to stay in the league.

The massive win against Freetown City FC is a significant result for the Northern Rock as their fans believe it will serve as a motivation to the boys for more victories in their subsequent matches.
