FC Kallon 1-0 Mighty Blackpool: Tis-Tas’s 10-game premier league unbeaten run ends

FC Kallon has ended Mighty Blackpool’s 10 games unbeaten run in the Sierra Leone Premier League following their 1-0 win against the Tis-Tas Boys at the Angola Town playing field on Friday.

Philip A. Conteh 57 minutes goal was the only difference in the match as the cavaliers powered to victory after wasting several chances.

Mighty Blackpool who desperately needed a win to close the gap on Bo Rangers, kept the pressure on the home side, attacking from all angles in search of a goal, but they weren’t lucky enough to break the strong defense of FC Kallon.

The victory earned FC Kallon an important 3 points, increasing their tally to 14 points from 11 matches, and they are currently 8 place on the league table.

Speaking to Mags Tribune Sports after the match, FC Kallon skipper, Saidu Fofanah said it was a huge win for the team against the Mighty Blackpool who are sitting second on the table.

The skipper further said the win will serve as a motivation for their upcoming matches. Adding, it will also inspire the fans to believe in the squad and continue to throw their support behind the team.

“We dominated the game and created a lot of chances that we were unable to convert. But, that’s football. Sometime you get the chance to score but not lucky enough to take them. At the end, we kept the pressure on them and we scored a vital goal that earned us a well deserve win”.

“The most important thing for us as a team, is to stick to our game plan by playing our normal system, which is passing the ball, moving forward with confidence and penetrating against the opponent’, Fofanah added.

Mighty Blackpool’s head coach, Alusine Balla Kargbo said the chances wasted were the cause for the defeat. “We dominated in the first half with so many opportunities squandered. We could have won, but luck wasn’t on our side”.

“We had a clean goal disallowed by the referee. Williams was onside when he heads the ball into the net, but the referee indicates that he was in an offside position. That was a big blunder from the officiating team because it was a clear goal”.

The Blackpool gaffer said despite the defeat today, they will focus on their game plan and get ready for the next match. He added that the team has the best set of finishers in the league and he believe they are capable to score against any team, but it wasn’t their day.

FC Kallon’s Bankole Cole was awarded Man of the Match (MOTM) for his tremendous performance in helping his side clinching the win against Blackpool.
