Williams happy with Charleston's triumphant victory over Louisville City in the Eastern Conference

Augustine Williams, the sensational Sierra Leonean forward, showcased his skills and played an outstanding role in Charleston Battery’s triumphant victory over Louisville City FC in the thrilling  Eastern Conference finals.

It was a crucial moment when Williams stepped up to take the penalty and made no mistake with a clinical finish, securing a 2-0 lead for his team. His impressive performance helped Charleston clinch the trophy with ease.

Always humble, Williams expressed his joy at having the opportunity to help his team dominate the Eastern Conference throughout the season.

“It felt great winning the Eastern Conference finals. I had so many emotions running through me and so many thoughts”, he said.

It was no surprise that the 26-year-old was ready to take the penalty as he had practiced it countless times during training.

“But I felt like I’d been there and done that already before that moment even happened. I was prepared for it. We’ve been practicing penalties in training almost every day. So when that moment came I was ready”, Williams said.

His aim for perfection and dedication to his craft paid off in that perfect moment.

“I don’t know yet what’s next. I’m enjoying the moment but part of my goal is to go to Europe one day. But right now I’m focused on winning another finals”.

His permanent deal with Charleston Battery in 2022 saw him set a new career-high with 16 goals, making him the Battery’s first double-digit goalscorer since 2018.

He also had the chance to represent his country, Sierra Leone, making his international debut on 15 June 2021 and being selected for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The exhilarating journey did not end there as Williams and Charleston Battery now prepare to take on Phoenix Rising FC in the upcoming USL Championship match on Sunday.
