SLFA provided technical training for 50 Physical Education teachers

The SLFA has provided training for 50 P. E Teachers in preparation for the upcoming launch of the FIFA Football for Schools Program.

The Sierra Leone Football Association, with assistance from FIFA and in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, has initiated a 3-day training workshop for more than 50 Physical Education teachers at the Wusum Hotel in Makeni.

This training is in preparation for the launch of the FIFA Football for Schools (F4S) Programme in Sierra Leone. Present at the opening of the workshop were Mohamed Benson Bawoh, Acting General Secretary, Ibrahim Bah, Technical Director, Haroun Korji, Director of Sports at the Ministry of Sports, Victor Hastings Spaine, Director of National Institute of Sports at the National Sports Authority, and Sahr Ruben Suluku, Deputy Director of Education for the North-East Region.

During the introduction of the Program, the lead trainer Antonio Buenaño Sanches explained that “the F4S programme aims to promote football among both boys and girls across the country by incorporating football activities into the education system, in partnership with relevant authorities and stakeholders.”

 In his opening remarks, Acting General Secretary Ing. Mohamed Benson Bawoh urged the participants to take the training seriously and emphasized that “the success and sustainability of this initiative depend on you.”

The training will conclude with a football festival for children at the Wusum Field, which will mark the official launch of the F4S programme on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
