First win for Sierra Leone in U20 Zonal tournament against Liberia

On Friday afternoon, Sierra Leone National U20, known as Shooting Stars, secured their first victory at the Zonal U20 Tournament against their Liberian counterparts at the Samuel K. Doe Stadium in Monrovia.

The match was decided by a goal from Alieu Adjust Kamara, who was brought in during the second half to change the team’s approach.

The 19-year-old scored the game’s only goal, securing a 1-0 win for Sierra Leone against Liberia.

Kamara has been evolving as a player since his time with the U-17 team, and his transition to the U-20 team has been remarkable. He played a critical role in the game, displaying his dribbling and mobility skills, which led to his perfect finish from a brilliant assist by Samba Juma Bah in the 90+3 minute.

Kamara’s performance earned him the Man of the Match award and showcased his dedication and skill on the field.

Head Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara praised his team’s disciplined approach throughout the game. He commended the player’s hard work and effort, which led to their victory.

The coach emphasized that the win was hard-fought, and the team still had another tough battle in their final game.

Shooting Stars now has five points out of three matches, with two goals and one conceded. The team’s final game is scheduled for Sunday, 25th February 2024, at the Samuel K. Doe Stadium.
