Sierra Leonean left winger, Tejan Brima scored his first goal of the season as Lynx FC edged Mons Calpe SC 1-2 in the Gibraltar national league round one opener last Friday.
Brima’s goal in the 50’ minutes helped Lynx FC secure their first away win of the season.
John Paul Duarte gave the home side the lead 23’ minutes into the first half, but the visitors emerged for the second half with a robust approach to scoring in the match, and Aldair Ruiz levelled the scores in the 47’minutes before Brima slotted home to seal the win for the Yellows.
“I am excited to have scored my first goal of the season. It’s a good start for me and the club. I think this win will help to boost our confidence as we prepare to face other tough teams who might be difficult to crack down”, Brima told Mags Tribune Sports.
“I am looking forward to an injury-free and successful league season that will see us finishing in a very good position. My intention always is to help the team score more goals by assisting or scoring as well so that we can keep winning and improve on the league table”.
“Starting with a win is a big boost, and I am sure my teammates are delighted to get the 3 points away from home. It was difficult, but we played with our hearts to put smiles on the faces of our fans who travelled with us”. Brima said.
Midway in the match, Lynx FC played with high intensity, pushing for more goals but Mons Calpe was clinical in defending to avoid conceding more goals against the visitors.
The last few minutes were more intense between either side, but the home side was unable to level the scores at full-time.
Following their win, Lynx FC posted with delight on their official Facebook page: “This TEAM does NOT give up! What a comeback as we kick off our Gibraltar Football League campaign with a win courtesy of two early second-half goals from Aldair & TJ Brima”.
