CAF Confederation Cup: Bo Rangers play out goalless draw against CR Belouisdad in Monrovia

Bo Rangers FC hosted top tier side, CR Belouizdad in the first leg of the CAF TotalEnergies Champions League preliminary rounds, and they played out in a goalless draw (0-0) at the SKD Stadium in Monrovia, Liberia on Saturday.

It was an afternoon of excitement and hope for the Sierra Leone Premier League champions who played for the first time in the preliminary stage of the continent’s top flight club football match since the establishment of the club.

The Elephants of Bo, started strong, looking to test the Belouizdad  backline  with couple of close range shots. But the visitors were also composed in defending, clearly blocking and tackling all the attacking attempts made by the home side to come close in breaking the deadlock in the match.

Belouizdad played pressing football to get the ball into the final third with speed and agility, but the Bo Rangers defenders stood their grounds and ensure they keep them clear off the line to avoid any chances of the Algerian based club to get a goal.  

Despite the draw, fans praises the Bo Rangers squad for their efforts in playing good and clinical football.  

“It was a good game, the way Bo Rangers played we weren’t expecting the game to end without a goal. They played high pressing football that put the visitors under pressure”.

“The team was very organized when possessing the ball, and they took all chances to shot at the goal even though they were unlucky to score in the match. As fans we appreciates their efforts and we believe in the boys. All they need now is to go to Algeria and get the job done”.

Both clubs are heading to the second leg this week, with the aim of scoring a goal to win, and progress to the next stage of the Champions League.
