Sierra Stars lose WAFU Zone A semifinals against Junior Teranga Lions in a penalty shootout

Sierra Stars run in the WAFU ZONE A U17 football tournament came to an end on Friday evening with a penalty shootout loss to Junior Teranga Lions of Senegal in their tense semifinal clash in Mauritania.

The Sierra Stars of Sierra Leone were beaten 6-5 on penalties by the Junior Teranga Lions.

The semi-final of the WAFU A tournament between the two teams ended goalless after both sides shows composure and resilience. Senegal dominate at the end of the day and qualified for the final. 

Despite the defeat, the boys have received huge support from football fanatics back home for their tremendous effort in representing the country well at the tournament.

They will be facing Mali who has also booked a spot in the final following their 2-0 semi-final win against the host, Mauritania.

Both Mali and Senegal have secured their place in the 2023 U17 African Cup of Nations that will be hosted in Algeria.
