Williams earns USL Player of the Week after a top-notch performance on match-day six

Charleston Battery forward, Augustine Williams was voted as the Konami eFootball Championship Player of the Week following his match-winning performance against Tampa Bay Rowdies on match-day six of the 2023 USL regular season.

Williams sailed Battery to a vital 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rowdies at the Al Lang Stadium last Wednesday scoring both goals to secure the top spot on the league table.

The Sierra Leone international has hit a rich vein of form in April, helping the Battery continue an undefeated start to the new season across all competition and into first place in the Eastern Conference.

The win was part of a two-win week for Charleston, which earned four players on the Team of the Week overall including a second consecutive selection for fellow forward Nick Markanich.

Williams earned 65 percent of the ballot to claim the award. Sacramento Republic FC goalkeeper Danny Vitiello finished second on 18 percent after recording a six-save shutout in his side’s 4-0 victory against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Heart Health Park as Republic FC continued its undefeated start to the campaign.

The USL Player of the Week is selected by the USL National Media Panel, which is made up of representatives from each media market in the Championship.
