Sierra Leone to take on Mali in the next round of CHAN 2022 qualifiers

Sierra Leone national home-based team will be engaging Mali in the next round of the TotalEnergies 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers after eliminating the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde.

The Leone Stars B progressed to the final round of the qualifiers following their 3-2 win on aggregate over the Blue sharks on Wednesday at the Stade Marrakech in Morocco.

Sierra Leone grabs a comfortable 2-0 win in the first leg on Sunday before losing 2-1 against Cape Verde.

Goals from Kelton and Gielson in the 84 and 90 minutes was not enough for the Blue Sharks, as Prince Barrie slotted home a vital goal in the first half to keep Sierra Leone in the tie.

Leone Stars B will be hosting the Eagles of Mali on the weekend of 26th, 27th and 28th August, 2022 in the first leg whiles the return leg will play on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th September, 2022.

The winner of the tie will progress to the final tournament in Algeria, in January 2023.
