A year full of activities, the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) is collaborating with the Philadelphia Adult League to engage one hundred and fifty adults and youths on the basics of softball, baseball and cricket.

The program, a joint effort, will take place on Monday 20th June, 2022 at the Kingtom Cricket Oval, with the aim being to promote the aforementioned sports.

The Americans arrived in Freetown on Friday to stay in town for eight days, visiting different communities to organize skills training on the mentioned sporting disciplines for adults and youths.

For Monday’s event at Kingtom, there will be an introduction to cricket program to welcome newcomers to the game.

Also, the Philadelphia League will be donating cricket equipment to SLCA which they collected from cricketers and cricket clubs in America for and on behalf of SLCA.

According to the Chairman of SLCA, Francis Trevor Samura, the equipment will be used to enhance preparation ahead of the massive international cricket tournaments for both the Under-19 and Men’s senior sides. “The arrival of the equipment is timely as it will support our effort in getting fully ready for the four competitions ahead,” he said.

This is the first batch of consignment the SLCA has received from foreign soil this year.
