Mogbwema Queens are champions of the Sierra Leone Women’s Elite Premier League

Mogbwema Queens wrapped up their journey in the race to clinch their first title with a 1-0 victory over Correctional Service to win the maiden edition of the Sierra Leone Women’s Elite Premier League.

Rashidatu Kamara who joined the Mogbwema Queens in the second rounds of the league scored a spectacular free-kick to earn the Bonthe based club it first ever silverware.

The Queens from Bonthe district finished the job at home in the final game of the 2022-23 season, exhibiting an outstanding performance to lift the trophy in front of thousands of their fans with so much pride and glimpse of celebration at the arena in Rutile.

The champions went into the match with so much to play for as they only needed a win to grab the title. It was a tough end to the league as Kenema based club, Kahunla Queen was also closely pushing for a win hoping to overtake the league leaders, but it’s was a fruitless endeavor as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Ram K FC.

Meanwhile, Mogbwema Queens who wins the league with a six point’s gap ahead of the other title contenders will represent Sierra Leone in the next CAF Women’s Champions League.  

In the other matches across the country, Malema Queens stun VEM Buck 1-0, Patricia Umu settled for a 1-1 draw with FC Kallon, Koya Queens defeated Albitiya Queens 4-0 and Mena Queens lost 2-0 at home to Sierra Leone Police.
