A Europa League qualifier debut for Buya Turay in Malmo Shirt
Sierra Leone forward, Mohamed Buya Turay was delighted to make his Europa League qualifier debut for his new club, Malmo FF on Thursday evening at the Eleda Stadion.
Buya replaced J. Ceesay in the 81’ minutes of actions as Malmo wins the first leg of the qualifying round of the Europa league 3-0 against the Luxembourg National Division champions, F91 Dudelange.
“What an Incredible night, I had my EUFA Europa League qualifying debut at Eleda Stadion with Malmö FF in a great team win”, the former Hebei FC forward posted after the match on his facebook page.
Isaac Keise Thelin, Ola Toivonen and Veljko Birmancevic were all on the score sheet for the Swedish Allsvenskan champions. Charles Morren was showed a red card 31 minutes into the first half, leaving the visiting side with just 10 men throughout the match.
“This is a victory for the players. They are the ones who do the right thing in the preparation and in today’s performance”, Andreas Georgson praises the team after the win in the first qualifying match.
Both sides went into the match on the back of defeats in their Champions League second qualifying round, which saw them drop to the Europa League qualifier.
The hosts were dumped out by Lithuanian side Zalgiris, while F91 Dudelange were defeated by Pyunik over two legs. Malmo had won the Swedish top flight title last term, while the visitors had won the 2021-22 Luxembourg National Division title.
