Kargbo fires East End Lions to victory against Bai Bureh Warriors

Suleiman Kargbo’s drought-breaking goal powered East End Lions FC to a 1-0 win over Bai Bureh Warriors FC at the Port Loko town field on Saturday.

Kargbo’s goal in the 73’ minutes was enough to clinch the win and grabbed all 3 points for the Killers who were struggling to score in their last few matches.

The result has boosts the confidence of the players as Lions moved up to 3rd place above Diamond Stars, Bai Bureh Warriors and Port Authority FC on the league table with 20 points from 12 matches played.

The Port Loko field is a very difficult ground for away teams to grab a points. But the return of Lions head Coach, Francis Zappa Koroma was an added advantage for the visitors who missed him in the last 3 matches due to ill-health.

“We are excited for the outcome of today match. Winning and getting the 3 points is the most important thing even though we want the boys to score more goals in every match”, a fan, John Turay said.

“We’ve been through a very difficult time with a run of poor result due to lack of scoring goals. We hope the return of the coach will bring a better option in front of goal. We should be playing to win all matches. And if we are to win, we must score goals”.

“Today the team showed great character and resilience to win. This is what we want to see in every game. We the fans are ready to give our support to the lads, we just need their commitment to play for the club and deliver good result”, Turay cited.

The Warriors were fantastic throughout the match. They took the game to the visitors, but they did not utilized their opportunities in front of goal with few possible chances missed.

Santigie H. Kargbo of Bai Bureh Warriors was voted Man of the Match following his spectacular performance for the host team, despite losing to the visitors.   

Elsewhere in Lungi, Lamboi FC claimed a 1-0 home win against Luawa FC at the Lungi town field, and Real Republicans FC managed to get a point against Old Edwardians FC as they settled for a 0-0 draw at the Parade playing field in Freetown.
