Huge boost for Sierra Leone Premier League as government deposits Le 2, 461, 300 million into the board’s account

The Sierra Leone Premier League Board (SLPLB) has on Thursday, 1st December 2022 received a pay-in-slip of Le 2,461,300 million (new currency) from the Government of Sierra Leone as a support for the kick start of the men’s Premier League campaign.

It was a part payment of the Le 3, 212,000 million (new currency) approved government support towards the 2022/23 league season.

The presentation of the pay-in-slip was done by the Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh to the Sierra Leone Premier League Board (SLPLB) in the presence of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).

The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Thomas Daddy Brima expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Government, the Ministry of Sports (MOS) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) for their support to football in Sierra Leone.

“On behalf of the Sierra Leone Football Association, we want to express our gratitude to the President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Dr Julius Maada Bio for his wonderful gesture to football”, Thomas Daddy Brima said.

“We the Sierra Leone Football Association have received from the Government of Sierra Leone the sum of Le 2,461,300 (New Currency) to support the Premier League, and the money has been deposited into the account of the Board”, the SLFA president confirmed.

A representative from the Sierra Leone Premier League Board who received the pay-slip, Abdul Karim Kargbo, lauded the government for supporting the league which is the most exciting and top tier football competition in the country.

“We are delighted to see the quick response from the government after asking them to help us finically. They listen to our call and accepted our request. Today we are here receiving this amount that would create a huge difference in the life of our local players who are the benefactors”, AKK asserted.

He added: “We are grateful for this wonderful gesture and as a board we assure you all that, we are going to use the money for it intended purpose”.
