East End Lions FC part ways with Coach Zappa

Following their dismal performance in the ongoing Sierra Premier League, East End Lions Football Club has terminated the contract of Coach Francis Zappa Koroma.

In a statement released by the club on Saturday, they announced that they’ve mutually agreed to part ways with Zappa.

“Following discussions between coach Zappa and the board, it was deemed that the team’s results this season have fallen short of expectations, and therefore, it is in the best interest of both parties to go our separate ways”, the club said.

“The club would like to express its appreciation to coach to coach Zappa for his dedication and hard work during his tenure with us”, they noted.

Zappa was appointed as head coach of East End Lions before the commencement of the current league season. Since his arrival at Lions, he has found it difficult to produce consistent results for the club, with a run of poor performance prior to his dismissal.

Earlier in January, fans of the club protested against coach Zappa, calling for his resignation after a run of poor results and an average performance from the team. But the management backed the coach and assured the fans of stability.

Since then nothing changes, and the team continues to drop points and lose vital matches against mid-table teams. His dismissal came a day after East End Lions was beaten 1-0 by Port Authority FC at the Brima Attugha Stadium.

It was confirmed by East End Lions that former Anti-Drugs Strikers head coach Raymond Hunter, who was an assistant coach to Zappa, would be in charge as an interim coach whiles searching for a permanent replacement.
