Bo Rangers FC go top of Sierra Leone Premier League Table after a win against Port Authority FC

Bo Rangers FC have leapfrogged Mighty Blackpool to take the top spot in the Sierra Leone Premier League with a 1-0 home win over Port Authority on New Year’s Day.

Ibrahim Turay’s first half goal made the difference as the elephants move to the summit of the league table with 11 points from five matches.

The host’s kept the pressure on Port Authority with couple of missed chances that could have earn them more goals. But it wasn’t enough to frustrate the visitors who also had few chances on the counter before half time.

Bo Rangers rallied in the second half with lot of wasted opportunities but it was nothing much to worried about beating the capabilities of the Port Authority goalkeeper who protected his goal as he denied the Ranger’s attackers the chances to score more goals.

The Elephants who are on a mission to defend their league title, have won three and drew two out of five matches played. They’ve been very consistent with their playing style and always make it difficult for teams going away to return with a point from Bo.

However, football fanatics have raised serious concern about the chances wasted by the Bo Ranger’s attacking forwards. Stating, if they want to defend the title, they should utilize every opportunity in front of goal.

Bo Ranger’s Abubakarr Bangura was awarded man of the match following his exceptional performance in helping the southern based club clinching a win against the Water Front Boys.

In the other matches played across the country, earlier on Saturday, newly promoted Lamboi FC of Lungi defeated Bai Bureh Warriors 2-1 in the Portloko derby.

On Sunday, Mighty Blackpool FC settled for a 1-1 draw with East End Lions FC at the Parade playing ground, Old Edwardians defeated East End Tigers 2-0, Luawa FC held Diamond Star to a 0-0 draw away in Kono, FC Kallon had a 2-1 win over Real Republican, whiles Kamboi Eagles and Freetonians SLIFA drew 1 all (1-1) in Kenema.
