Amidu Karim named squad for doubleheader friendlies

The head coach of Leone Stars, Amidu Karim has announced his 25-man squad for the Leone Stars friendly matches against Benin and Somalia.

The friendlies are scheduled to play in Morocco. On the 14th and 17th of October.

Meanwhile, there are some new faces included in the list, and 39-year-old center-back, Curtis Eugene Davies is one of the newbies that got a call-up for the first time.

The British-Sierra Leonean who plays for Cheltenham Town in the English League One was born in England to an English mother and a Sierra Leonean father.

The center-back will play for his father’s land for the first time in the history of his career.

Alpha Bedoh Conteh, Augustine Loof, Abdulai Juma Bah, Salieu Tarawallie, and John Kargbo, are also included in the squad for the first time.

Alhaji Kamara, Sullay Kaikai, and Mohamed Buya Turay are making their return to the national team after missing out on some matches in the last AFCON qualifiers.

Sierra Leone will be playing Benin on the 14th of October and Somalia on the 17th of October.

The purpose of the friendlies is to keep the players fit ahead of the World Cup qualifier in November.

Amidu Karim and his backroom staff will start their jobs in Morocco and the match against Benin will mark his first as Leone Stars head coach.
