Alie Conteh scored a brace as Sierra Leone beat Cape Verde 2-0 in CHAN qualifiers

Sierra Leone 2 Cape Verde 0...Leone Stars home based impressed in CHAN qualifier first leg match against the local Blue Shark

East End Lions talisman, Alie Nzoze Conteh slotted home twice in Sierra Leone 2-0 win over Cape Verde in their CHAN qualifier first leg match hosted at Grand Stade de Marakesh, in Morocco on Sunday evening.

Conteh put Sierra Leone ahead just 15 minutes into the match, before he netted another classy goal in the 65 minutes to earn the Leone Stars home based side a vital win against the local Blue Shark of Cape Verde.

The victory is an added advantaged for coach Francis Zappa Koroma’s side who will now face Cape Verde in the second leg with 3 points and 2 goals, as they look forward to progress to the next stage of the qualifiers.

Coach Zappa Koroma is delighted to get a convincing win in the first leg against the Blue Shark. But implored his boys to stay focus and get the job done clinically in the second leg match slated for Wednesday 27, July 2022.

“The win doesn’t come as a surprise as we trained very well for this match. Our aim is not only to win today, but to qualify for the next round and also progress to the 2022 CHAN tournament”.

“The boys did extremely well in controlling the match and having a better possession of the ball. We could have scored more than 2 goals, but we couldn’t take all our chances. That’s football, I am sure the boys will finish the job on Wednesday”, the Leone Stars coach said.

If Sierra Leone knocks Cape Verde out, they will be facing West African counterpart, Mali in the next round of the qualifiers.
